HYBRID ROLE (in person + remote)
We are seeking a dedicated and talented individual to join our team as an Artist Assistant for a high-profile multi-media artist. This full-time position entails working closely with the artist, supporting various tasks related to artwork production, organization, and project coordination. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, proficient in Photoshop and Illustrator, possess a passion for archival work and organization, and be comfortable working with different types of media. This role requires a proactive, respectful, and self-starting individual with excellent problem-solving skills.
Responsibilities:
-Organize and maintain digital and physical files, ensuring proper archival practices and efficient access to artwork and reference materials
-Transfer vinyl records/digitize media collections
-Coordinate film development/prints/framing
-Scan and digitize photographs, paper goods, and other physical media, ensuring high-quality digital copies
-Curate and manage the digital library, organizing, and labeling files for easy retrieval
-Coordinate with vendors to source samples for projects such as book making and art prints, ensuring timely delivery and accurate specifications
-Assist in the setup of projects, including handling licensing and permits when necessary
-Collaborate closely with the artist to bring projects to life, providing valuable input and executing tasks as assigned
-Conduct research to support artistic projects, such as gathering reference materials, exploring new techniques, or sourcing relevant information
-Demonstrate excellent multitasking abilities, prioritizing tasks efficiently to meet project deadlines
-Maintain a high level of professionalism and respect for privacy, handling sensitive information with discretion
Qualifications:
-Strong proficiency in Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator, with the ability to edit and manipulate digital images effectively
-Attention to detail and a meticulous approach to organization, ensuring accurate file management and archival practices
-Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, to effectively interact with vendors and team members
-Proactive attitude and self-starting nature, demonstrating the ability to take initiative and work independently
-Strong problem-solving skills, capable of finding creative solutions and overcoming challenges
-Ability to research and gather information effectively, utilizing various resources to support artistic projects
-Demonstrated ability to multitask and manage multiple projects simultaneously, while maintaining attention to detail
-Respect for privacy and the ability to handle confidential information with utmost discretion
-Previous experience in an artist assistant role or a similar creative support position is a plus
Compensation:
This is a full-time position offering 40 hours per week. The compensation of this role is $25/hour.
