TV Land Visits Las Vegas for 'High School Reunion's' 3rd Season
TV Land is rolling the dice on another season of "High School Reunion." The network has picked up a third installment of its successful unscripted soap opera and has cast alumni of Las Vegas' Chaparral High School's class of 1989 to participate. Episodes will be taped in Hawaii for broadcast in the third quarter of 2009. While Las Vegas residents are used to getting blank stares when informing friends that they grew up in the gambling mecca, the city now boasts dozens of high schools. During the late 1980s, Chaparral was one of less than a dozen local high schools and boasted a mostly working-class student body. Chapparal's list of famous alumni includes a powerful behind-the-scenes figure in the TV business: "CSI" creator Anthony Zuiker, who graduated in 1986. Brandon Flowers and Mark Stoermer, members of the alt-rock group the Killers, also attended Chaparral. "'High School Reunion’ continues to resonate with our viewers and remains one of TV Land’s most popular original series,” said Larry W. Jones, president of TV Land. “Viewers can’t get enough of the drama and romance that comes when these classmates share their emotional and intimate stories from high school and everything else in between." The current season of "Reunion" has been averaging 883,000 total viewers, including 554,000 among adults 25-54. The show's median age is 45. "Reunion's" second season on TV Land is up from last year's first season, which averaged 821,000 total viewers. Warner Horizon Television and Mike Fleiss' Next Entertainment produce "High School Reunion" for TV Land. The series was revived by TV Land last year; four seasons had previously aired on the now-defunct WB Network.
