Spanish-Language WXTV Wins Time Slot in New York
Univision’s WXTV 41 is the most-watched TV station in New York by adults 18-49 during the 6-8 p.m. weekday time period, an October audience survey found. WXTV attracted 147,000 viewers ages 18-49 in the time period, with WABC-TV coming in second at 142,000 viewers, Nielsen Station Index Local Peter Meter figures report. The station wins heavily in the 7-8 p.m. time slot thanks to the novela “Querida Enemiga,” which had 168,000 viewers in the demo. WABC-TV’s “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy” brought in 147,000 viewers in the same time slot. It is the first time that a Spanish-language TV station in New York has topped all English-language network-owned and -affiliated stations during the 6-8 p.m. weekday time period. WXTV also won the Saturday 8-11 p.m. time period, with “Sabado Gigante.” The variety show attracted 164,000 viewers ages 18-49, while WNYW-TV came in second with 107,000 viewers.
