Tom Calderone was promoted to president of VH1, MTV Networks Music Group announced Thursday.
Mr. Calderone, who had been executive VP and general manger of VH1 since 2005, oversees the network and its extensions, including VH1 classic, VH1 Soul and VH1.com.
VH1 has posted 23 consecutive quarters of growth among total viewers under Mr. Calderone and had its best rating ever in the 18 to 49 demo during the first quarter of 2008.
“Tom has an encyclopedic knowledge of music, great instincts in identifying the next cultural phenomenon for the VH1 audience, a sharp business sense and an inexplicable love of the Buffalo Bills” said Van Toffler, president of the MTV Networks Music and Logo Group. “Those characteristics not only make him a unique and thoughtful leader, but just an all-around good person to have on your team and driving one of your key brands.”
