Fox Sports Net and World Poker Tour Enterprises are teaming up for a new poker tournament series based on the popular online poker site ClubWPT.com.
“ClubWPT.com” will give online players a chance to compete against other poker amateurs from the U.S. and Canada. Six players will be chosen to participate each week after a series of online qualifying matchups through ClubWPT.com.
The TV show debuts Sunday at 4 p.m., with encore presentations at 11 p.m. Qualifying online matches will be held six nights per week at 10 p.m. ET on the official Web site.
“Poker is the only sport that allows the everyday Joe to go up against the professionals and win life-changing money and celebrity status,” said WPT founder and President
Steve Lipscomb in a statement. “ClubWPT.com gives you the opportunity—six nights a week, in your own home—to win a seat on national television and the chance to live the dream.”
Alison Waite will serve as host, with commentary provided by Barry Tompkins and Bart Hansen. The show will tape in Los Angeles.
