Role
The role will be based at our Burbank office, and we believe would benefit strongly from full time in person office attendance.
This newly created role is a great opportunity to build a senior position in a growing production company. We're looking for an individual with true leadership skills, and a passion and track record for nurturing talent and teams. The successful candidate will be client facing but focused primarily on internal leadership; both permanent staff and freelance talent. The role will span all our areas of operation, but with a more hands on focus on our multi-camera production, filming, and post production projects.
Skills and Background
The successful candidate will likely have a good amount of experience at a similar level in at least one closely related field to our business (TV production, film, screen visuals, motion graphics, post etc). They will have a history of leading, training and guiding staff talent. We'd expect the Head of Production to be very comfortable with budgets, well connected in the industry on both supplier and client side, experienced with unions, payroll and accounting. Crucially the role would require the ability to guide projects from pitch / bid through to delivery, sometimes from a high level supporting others, and sometimes hands on ownership. The role will involve close collaboration with the CEO, as well as our Producers and Production Manager.
Key Responsibilities
• Help guide, manage and train the Production Manager
• Manage approx. 3-4 employees (TBD)
• Knowledge and awareness of all project commitments, helping staff to manage their time and drive forward organizational best practices
• Oversee budgeting on some projects
• Help navigate union compliance
• Help with recruitment of permanent and freelance hires
• Manage workflow of the staff productoon manager and coordinator
• Train production manager, coordinator, and department assistant in production processes in order to facilitate their professional growth
• Identify and manage diversity & inclusion initiatives with CEO.
Key Skills and Experience
• Strong financial and business acumen
• Excellent supplier network in Los Angeles - including camera crews, equipment vendors, finishing houses, mix facilities
• Production / fixer contacts in other US and international cities a bonus
• Expert level of experience and understanding of at least one area of production relevant to our core business (Film Production, TV Production, Screen Content, Broadcast Graphics or Post Production)
• Working knowledge of Movie Magic and / or Hot Budget.
• Strong people and team leadership skills
• Experience dealing with senior clients in sectors related to our core business (for example music managers, networks, record labels, film and TV execs
• Professional attributes including organization, diplomacy, communication (writing and verbal)
• Some knowledge of management and HR protocol is a bonus
• Ability to understand 'big picture' of business challenges without getting bogged down in project detail
BLINK are committed to being an inclusive employer. We are a small but diverse organization.
